However, I do find it reassuring that Bakerella openly admits that she has baking disasters. Ahhh, she is human, unlike Martha Stewart who just rubs me the wrong way.
What I especially love are all of her adorable cake pops. And if they didn't look like they would take forever and a day to make, I would try them for a school or birthday party. Well, if I had any baking talent whatsoever.
Now, this looks more my speed:
It is one of Williams-Sonoma's cake pans. I think it looks like something a novice baker could do. The tricky part would be getting the cake to release from the pan in one piece. It always looks easy when they do it on TV, but you know how those things go.
Maybe if I just start small with an Oreo cookie ice cream cake, then I could work up to the cake pops.
Maybe....
Give me a break. Hasn't Bakearella ever heard of Krispy Kreme or the bakery dept in your local grocery store?

ReplyDeleteCake Release, baby...Cake Release. You brush it on your pan and voila! It slides right out.
ReplyDeleteShe is very talented...that takes a lot of patience and no shaky hand spasms to do all those cutie faces on the pops.
I've never heard of Cake Release. Thanks for the heads up...it's those little tips and tricks that make all the difference.
ReplyDeleteI love the cake pops! The chicks and the lambs are my favorites for Easter. But I couldn't choose a favorite for Halloween...I loved them all.
Did you see her Easter basket cupcakes? Those were sooo cute, and looked like something that I could do.
And you could be Bakerella...I have the wedding cake pics to prove it! So when are you starting your catering business?!?! You could specialize in cakes, cupcakes and cake pops. =)
I should have put in my note that you can get Cake Release in the baking section of Michael's to save you a trip! Sorry :o) Also pick up an inexpensive paint brush to use with it (clean it in hot soapy water first, of course). After you use the brush, DON'T wash it; store it in a Ziploc for next time.

Oh, I loved doing the marzipan. That was a blast! It was really a fun experience. However, I have found that icing cookies completely bores me to tears. I think I will start a scrapbooking business instead. Stay tuned!
